Holmes Construction Group successfully tendered for the development of the local Carterton Events Centre. Construction was completed on time, and within budget, despite the complex nature of the job and the sheer size. Our project team maintained an extremely high level of workmanship and attention to detail throughout the project.
The Carterton Events Centre is an award-winning complex housing modern meeting room facilities, a youth centre, outdoor courtyard, archive rooms, an information centre, exhibition foyer, Plunket rooms, a fully restored and extended library, and the impressive 350 seat auditorium. Some of the challenges included restoring the original library built in 1881 and integrating this beautiful old building into its modern surroundings.
For only the second time in New Zealand, a new seismic system using laminated veneer timber shear walls was utilised. Holmes Construction Group worked closely with the Carterton District Council as well as architects and engineers to ensure the build was a success and that timeframes and budgets were delivered on.
