This 100 year old Historic building was closed in November 2011 after it was found to be of significant risk to the public in a serious earthquake. Project Management team, Impact, were assigned by the Ministry of Justice along with Stephenson & Turner Architects who were engaged to carry out the design. The project included strengthening the 900m2 existing brick building, re-roofing of the structure, and the general configuration and refurbishment of the court house to bring the building up to modern standards for public use.
Holmes Construction Group completed the re-development to an incredibly high standard, including extensive and detailed re-strengthening work down to the seamless re-configuration and refurbishment of the 100 year old Rimu panelling to the main courtroom and dock area.
The completed result of this historic building is an example of the team’s exceptional management, design, and construction abilities that ensure this building will be sound for another 100 years.
